FORMER COUNTERTERRORISM PROSECUTOR AND CA-41 DEMOCRATIC NOMINEE WILL ROLLINS ANNOUNCES 2024 CAMPAIGN AGAINST KEN CALVERT

In 2022, Rollins gave Calvert the closest midterm election he has faced in 30+ years.

Corona, C.A. — Today, Democrat Will Rollins announced he is running for California’s 41st Congressional District. Rollins, the Democratic nominee in the 2022 general election, is a former federal prosecutor who focused on counterterrorism and counterintelligence cases across Southern California.

“I’m running for Congress because it’s time that 41st Congressional District residents have a representative who rejects the corruption and extremism in Washington and has the courage to put people over politics and profits,” said Rollins. “Having worked in law enforcement, I know that the threats facing our democracy and our communities still loom large. But Ken Calvert doesn’t have the backbone to stand up to his own party, let alone keep our communities safe or put the needs of working families first. In 2024, we will end his corruption-riddled political career and usher in a new generation of leadership that unites Democrats, Republicans, and Independents to solve the biggest problems facing our Riverside County communities.”

As a federal prosecutor in the Central District of California, Rollins protected Riverside County residents from MS-13, the Sinaloa Cartel, ISIS terrorists, and threats from China and Iran. He was raised in a family of Democrats and Republicans, and spent time working for former Republican Governor Arnold Schwarzenagger. Rollins’ life experience and professional career have demonstrated a commitment to public service, regardless of party. His record stands in deep contrast to Ken Calvert, whose first vote after winning re-election in 2022 (and after voting 15 times for Kevin McCarthy for Speaker) was to gut the Office of Congressional Ethics. Calvert was also previously named by Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) as one of the five most corrupt members of Congress.

In 2022, Rollins defied initial expectations and handed Ken Calvert the closest midterm election he has faced since he was first elected in 1992.

Here are some key highlights of the race:

  • Among all of the top congressional challengers in California last cycle, compared to the number that President Biden won in each district in 2020, Rollins was the top performer.

Now, coming off of his strong 2022 performance, 30 members of the California congressional delegation are endorsing Rollins on the first day of his campaign, including Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi and all three of California’s leading U.S. Senate candidates. Former U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer is also endorsing Rollins.

Photos of Rollins that are attributable to the campaign can be found here and the campaign will be holding media availability with the candidate tomorrow at the Democrats of the Desert office (details to follow). For more information, please contact: [email protected].
