KEN CALVERT EARNS DONALD TRUMP’S ENDORSEMENT BY PUTTING CONSPIRACY THEORIES AHEAD OF HIS OWN CONSTITUENTS

PALM SPRINGS, CA  — Disgraced former President Donald Trump has officially endorsed Rep. Ken Calvert in the closely watched race in California’s 41st Congressional District.

Will Rollins, a former federal prosecutor who is running against Ken Calvert, issued the following statement:

“While I was prosecuting insurrectionists for their unlawful behavior, Ken Calvert was doing exactly what the attackers told him to do, even after they assaulted more than 140 Capitol police officers: he voted to overturn the election. That’s because Ken believes loyalty to one president matters more than loyalty to America itself.”

“It’s a sad irony that Donald Trump’s endorsement of my opponent as a ‘leader on National Security’ also comes at the same time the former president called Putin a ‘savvy genius’ for invading Ukraine.

“Enough is enough. Ken Calvert needs to go. Riverside County residents deserve a representative with a backbone who cares more about delivering for our communities than seeking praise from Trump and lining his own pockets with our tax dollars. It’s time we send a candidate with actual national security experience from CA-41 to Washington, DC, who will put the country and our communities ahead of Putin enablers and insurrectionists, regardless of political party.”

California’s redistricting commission has finalized the new congressional maps that shifted Ken Calvert’s district from a Trump +7 to virtually tied. Registered Republicans and registered Democrats are dead even in the new district. There are 90,000 voters in the district with no party preference and the new district also now includes Palm Springs. The Cook Political report has identified California’s 41st Congressional district as one of five Republican-held House seats vulnerable to a Democratic flip this year.

About Will Rollins

Will Rollins is a former federal prosecutor who focused on counterterrorism and counterintelligence cases in Southern California. He’s from a family of Republicans and Democrats and is running for Congress because the attack on the U.S. Capitol underscored why America needs a new generation of leaders to end toxic divisions that threaten our democracy and prevent us from solving problems together. For the past five years, Will served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney, where he helped prosecute some of the insurrectionists who attacked the US Capitol on January 6th.

Coming of age at a time when being gay was a crime in some states, Will and his partner Paolo know that government-sponsored discrimination has lasting effects on all Americans, our economy, and our national security. That has motivated Will to improve the lives of others who face discrimination. Will’s mother and father, a public defender and journalist, stressed the importance of justice and free speech at a young age. His parents taught him that although the system may not be perfect, every generation has a responsibility to improve it. With this lesson in mind, Will is running for Congress to serve the 41st district of California and bring justice and accountability back to Washington.
