DEMOCRAT WILL ROLLINS SETS STATE RECORD BY RAISING OVER $875K IN SIX WEEKS

Rollins’ history-making haul kickstarts 2024 rematch against Rep. Ken Calvert

CORONA, C.A. — Today, Democrat Will Rollins announced that his campaign raised over $875,000 in the six weeks since launching his 2024 campaign against Republican Congressman Ken Calvert. No congressional challenger in California history to launch a campaign in the off-year has ever raised this much money in their first quarter.

The historic support is a testament to the early enthusiasm behind Rollins’ campaign and comes just months after Rollins handed Rep. Calvert the closest midterm he had ever faced in his 30+ year political career.

“I’m deeply humbled by the outpouring of support behind our campaign,” said Rollins. “Folks across the Inland Empire and Coachella Valley know what’s at stake in this election, and they’re stepping up in a tremendous way to ensure we have the resources to communicate a clear contrast and a clear vision for our district’s future. For decades, Ken Calvert and the status quo in Washington have been putting their own bottom-line ahead of their constituents. It’s time to turn the page from Calvert’s 30+ years of corruption, and usher in a new generation of public-service leadership that puts people over politics.”

Here are some key stats around Rollins’ record-setting raise:

  • More than $875k raised in six weeks;
  • Highest off-year first-quarter raise for a congressional challenger – Republican or Democrat – in California history;
  • Over 4,300 unique donors;
  • 90% of contributions were $100 or less and 75% of contributions were from California supporters;
  • Well over $800k raised from individuals. By contrast, Calvert only raised $455k in his Q1 report from individuals;
  • Not a penny taken from corporate PACs;
  • Only two Democrats running in a “frontline district” or “district in-play” raised more than $875k from supporters in the first quarter.

Beyond fundraising, Rollins has solidified political support for his campaign. 30 members of the California delegation, former Senator Barbara Boxer, and over a dozen local elected officials and community leaders endorsed Rollins within 24 hours of his campaign launch. Additionally, a number of national organizations have announced their support for Rollins, including the Communications Workers of America, Equality PAC, LGBTQ+ Victory Fund, Voter Protection Project, Democrats Serve, New Politics, the Long Run PAC, Square One Politics, and Serve America.

After garnering widespread political support and raising significant resources, Rollins’ campaign is now one of few Democratic challenger races in the nation without a credible primary challenge. The early unity behind Rollins is a boon for Democrats as California’s 41st District is already considered a majority-maker seat in the fight to retake the House. The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee has named the district one of its 33 initial “offensive targets,” and House Majority PAC has announced a $35 million battleground fund for California house seats.
