DEMOCRAT WILL ROLLINS OVERTAKES REPUBLICAN KEN CALVERT IN LATEST FUNDRAISING REPORTS
Rollins’ campaign officially has more money on-hand than Calvert’s campaign and is one of only two challengers in the U.S. in a targeted district to have more cash than their incumbent opponent
CORONA, C.A. — Yesterday, Democrat Will Rollins and Republican Ken Calvert’s campaigns filed their pre-primary reports with the Federal Election Commission (FEC). For the first time in the 2024 campaign cycle, Rollins’ campaign leads Calvert’s campaign in cash-on-hand, $2,424,884 to $2,334,273. In the pre-primary period, Rollins outraised Calvert $722,681 to $296,393.
“It’s a testament to the fact that folks understand that this seat is ripe for a flip,” said Rollins. “Riverside County voters know that 32 years is long enough for Ken Calvert — they’re ready for new leadership. And I’ve been honored to receive overwhelming support from Democratic leadership across the country who see in our district what supporters on the ground have known for some time: that the 41st District is trending our way, and with enough resources, we’re going to flip it in November.”
Rollins’ fundraising surge comes on the heels of setting an all-time record in 2023 for the most money ever raised by a challenger in California outside of an election year without self-funding. By the end of 2023, over 18,000 unique individuals had donated to Rollins’ campaign, with that number continuing to grow in 2024. Additionally, over 92% of donations have been $100 or less, and over 70% from donors in California, without one penny of corporate PAC money.
Now, with these latest reports, Rollins is just one of two candidates in the country in targeted districts to have more cash-on-hand than their incumbent opponent without self-funding. Rollins’ lead in cash-on-hand is all the more impressive considering Calvert had a 4-month head-start in fundraising in 2023 before Rollins officially re-entered the race.
California’s 41st District is shaping up to be a key 2024 matchup that will help decide the House majority. Punchbowl News called it the #2 most critical race in the battle for control of the House, and the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee recently added Rollins to its coveted “Red to Blue” program.
