WILL ROLLINS ADVANCES TO THE GENERAL ELECTION AS THE OFFICIAL DEMOCRATIC NOMINEE
Democrats have the momentum heading into November’s general election
CORONA, C.A. — Tonight, in the primary election in California’s 41st Congressional District, Riverside County voters officially made Will Rollins their Democratic nominee for the November 5th general election.
“I’m honored that voters have once again entrusted me with the responsibility to flip this seat in November,” said Rollins. “In our first campaign in 2022, we gave Ken Calvert the closest midterm election of his 30+ year career, and we did it by bringing Democrats, Republicans, and Independents together who know that Calvert’s self-dealing might be good for his own bottom-line, but it’s bad for us. This November, we’re going to flip this seat and turn the page from his corruption-riddled career, and usher in a new generation of public-service leadership that will focus on bringing good jobs, wages, and benefits for Riverside County families.”
As Riverside County voters, and observers across California and the nation, look ahead towards the November 5th general election, it’s clear that California’s 41st District is a key race to watch:
- The Cook Political Report ranked the district as a “toss-up;”
- Punchbowl News ranked the district as the second most critical race in the nation in determining House control;
- The National Journal included it as one of the 15 House seats most likely to flip this election cycle;
- Newsweek described the district as a “ticking time bomb” for the Republicans;
- And The Washington Post and The New York Times have both published articles detailing how the House majority runs through California this cycle, including prominent mentions of California’s 41st District.
So far in the 2024 rematch between Calvert and Rollins, the momentum has been with the Democrats.
- For the first time in his career, Calvert is running in a presidential cycle in a district with more registered Democrats than Republicans.
- Rollins has set fundraising records — hauling in more money from supporters than any other challenger outside of an election year in California history.
- National Democrats are taking notice. The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee added Rollins to the first wave of its coveted “Red to Blue program,” and major Democratic organizations like League of Conservation Voters and Lower Costs California have already spent money in the district holding Calvert accountable.
