BRAND NEW POLL GIVES DEMOCRAT WILL ROLLINS A ONE-POINT LEAD OVER 30-YEAR INCUMBENT KEN CALVERT
Rollins’ campaign holds major lead with independent voters in California’s 41st; Calvert favorables underwater.
CORONA, C.A. — Former counterterrorism prosecutor Will Rollins released a brand new poll today that shows his campaign with a 1-point lead over 30+ year incumbent Ken Calvert in California’s 41st District. You can view a memo on the poll’s highlights HERE.
“Our big tent coalition continues to grow in California’s 41st District,” said Rollins in response to the poll findings. “We are building a campaign made up of Republicans, Democrats, and Independents alike who know that 30 years is far too long for anyone to serve in Congress, especially the career politicians who are using their office to enrich themselves at the expense of working people. Just look at our recent endorsements: police unions and firefighter associations are getting behind a Democratic campaign because we can all agree that the 41st District could use a fresh face and a new voice in Washington to fight for good jobs, wages, and benefits back at home.”
Here are some of the major findings of the poll:
- Rollins leads Calvert 45-44, with 9 percent of the electorate undecided.
- Rollins’ advantage is built through support among independent or “No Party Preference” voters, 59% of whom are supporting Rollins compared to 26% for Calvert.
- Calvert’s favorable ratings are underwater. Calvert currently holds a 33% favorable rating and a 46% unfavorable rating.
The poll was conducted by David Binder Research and commissioned by the Rollins campaign. 600 likely November 2024 voters participated in the poll, with an oversample of 100 independent voters. The poll was in the field between May 1st and May 6th, with a margin of error of ±4.0%.
Rollins’ narrow lead is the latest sign that California’s 41st District is trending in his favor in the 2024 Calvert-Rollins rematch. In the past month, Rollins received significant support from law enforcement, including endorsements from the Palm Springs Police Officers’ Association and the International Law Enforcement Officers Association. Additionally, earlier this year, House Majority PAC made record ad buy reservations in both the Los Angeles media market ($18M+) and Palm Springs media market ($500k+), indicating that national Democrats view Southern California and CA-41 in particular as a critical piece in the path to the House majority.
