STATEMENT FROM DEMOCRATIC CONGRESSIONAL CANDIDATE WILL ROLLINS ON THE TWO-YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF DOBBS v. JACKSON WOMEN’S HEALTH ORGANIZATION
CORONA, C.A. — Today, Democratic Congressional Nominee Will Rollins issued the following statement on the two-year anniversary of Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization.
“Two years ago today, the Supreme Court issued one of the most devastating decisions of my lifetime in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization. Our Representative in California’s 41st District, Ken Calvert, praised the decision. Since then, extreme MAGA Republicans have enabled states and the federal government to enforce draconian abortion bans that rip away fundamental rights and freedoms.
“Calvert’s position on Dobbs is no surprise. Previously, he backed a nationwide six-week abortion ban with no exceptions for rape, incest, or the life of the mother that could throw pregnant women and doctors in jail. He voted to functionally end IVF fertility treatments for service members and block them for veterans, voting to restrict the ability of injured service members to have kids. And he repeatedly voted to make it harder for pregnant service members to receive abortions, attempting to ban the military from supporting their travel to a different state if needed.
“These votes are wildly out of step with the values of Riverside County women and families. Women across Riverside County and across America should be allowed to make their own reproductive health care decisions, including when to start or grow their family, without government interference. They don’t need career politicians like Calvert letting the government enter their bedrooms and dictate how they live.
“When elected, I will co-sponsor legislation to codify Roe v. Wade into federal law, and ensure that women’s fundamental freedoms are once again protected nationwide.”
