WILL ROLLINS WALLOPS KEN CALVERT IN THIRD QUARTER FUNDRAISING

Rollins is Now the Highest Raising Challenger in California History

CORONA, C.A. — Tuesday marked the deadline for federal candidates to file their third quarter fundraising reports. In the race for California’s 41st District, Democrat Will Rollins outraised Republican Ken Calvert by more than $2.2 million between July and September. Rollins entered October with a lead in cash-on-hand, even after massively outspending Calvert on the airwaves in August and September.

“While outside dark money groups are carrying the water for Ken Calvert, grassroots donors are fueling our campaign,” said Rollins. “We are delivering a people-powered campaign with a message that makes it clear that we are not going to tolerate anymore a member of Congress who puts the needs of lobbyists and special interests above the needs of everyday people in Riverside County. In 20 days, we are going to flip this seat, and when we do, we are going to push a reform agenda that gets Washington back to prioritizing people over politics, starting with term limits.”

While Calvert accepted six-figures from corporate PACs, low-dollar grassroots donors were the reason that Rollins posted a historic fundraising quarter:

  • $45 average online contribution;
  • 92% of all contributions $100 or less;
  • Over 39,200 unique contributors in the third quarter;
  • Over 74,000 unique contributors since the 2024 campaign launch.

Rollins’ $3.6 million third quarter haul brought his campaign cycle total receipts to over $10.67 million, making him the highest-raising challenger in California history. The previous record-holder was Republican Joe Collins, who ran against Congresswoman Maxine Waters in 2020.

With less than three weeks left until Election Day, resources are critical as the two latest public polls have shown the race tied. A public poll from USC, Cal Poly Pomona and California State University, Long Beach, put the race tied exactly at 46.1%, with California’s 41st District having the highest Democratic enthusiasm in the state among competitive districts. Another recent poll from House Majority PAC put the race tied at 45%.

Will Rollins is a Palm Springs resident and Southern California native. A former federal prosecutor and counterterrorism law attorney, he is now the Democratic nominee for Congress in California’s 41st Congressional District. California’s 41st District is shaping up to be a key 2024 matchup that will help decide the House majority. Punchbowl News called it the #2 most critical race in the battle for control of the House, and the National Journal ranked it as one of its 15 seats most likely to flip this November.
