CONGRESSIONAL CANDIDATE AND FORMER NATIONAL SECURITY PROSECUTOR WILL ROLLINS’ STATEMENT ON FORMER PRESIDENT TRUMP’S COURT APPEARANCE
CORONA, C.A. — Will Rollins, a congressional candidate in California’s 41st District and former National Security Prosecutor, released the following statement on former President Trump’s court appearance.
“America is the greatest country on earth because of the freedoms we protect with the rule of law. That’s why Donald Trump, like ANY American accused of multiple felonies, is entitled to Due Process and the presumption of innocence. His fate should be in the hands of his jurors, fellow citizens.
“I spent my career in federal law enforcement and counterterrorism. No one is above answering for incredibly serious alleged violations of the Espionage Act. A true leader in Congress would work to preserve faith in our criminal justice system. To serve as a resource for constituents with basic questions about how federal criminal trials and investigations work. But rather than seek answers in the name of national security, Ken Calvert is attacking federal law enforcement officers, undermining the work that agents, police officers, and prosecutors do every day around the country in all different kinds of cases.
“One of the best parts of my job in law enforcement was working alongside Republicans and Democrats who knew that our mission to protect America was far more important than party. I know that here in our communities, we are grateful to the men and women who serve in the military and agencies like the CIA, who put their lives on the line to keep us safe. We owe it to them to enforce the laws designed to keep them safe. That’s why when I’m elected, I’ll redirect the tax money Ken Calvert has wasted on an investigation into federal law enforcement toward fighting violent crime and gun homicides right here in Riverside County. And I will always work to protect the rule of law, not diminish it.”
